Yesterday @SvenSwift from Error Broadcast and 12rec tweeted about this, so I put it on my todo-pile. However, I couldn't help but listen to this before getting my other stuff done. And I don't regret it - this album is awesome. You should definitly check it out.
The release is licenced under a Creative Commons licence.
When I heard the first remix from this album, I wasn't really convinced the remix album was a good idea (I won't tell tou which one it was, because you would hear it in a different way). But when I listened through the whole thing, I knew I was wrong. This definitly was a rad idea and I hope you'll have as much fun listening to it as I did and still do. Again, here is the releases' website.
And - just as pt.1 - it's not creative commons, but still free. You can download the 192k mp3 on their website, and buy the FLAC. That is the reason they don't use CC, but they also don't want to get into dusty law-books to write a licence that works for them. What I can tell you is: I asked the label, and they said putting the mp3s on Bittorrent is cool. So, here they are:
Edit: Good News: Error Broadcast set the Licence to Creative Commons BY-NC 3.0!

This is actually the EP that made me pay attention to free music, a friend showed me. From that moment on I was dragged into a vortex of netaudio and soon after started this blog.
But back to the EP. Like a lot of iD.EOLOGY releases, it has quite a lot of funky influences, maybe this one is a little more electronic. I'm a little tired right now, so the description isn't that accurate, I hope you enjoy it anyway.
The album is released under "the iD.EOLOGY Licence".
I accidentally deleted this entry, I am really sorry. It is still as awesome as before, also this is a reminder for you to not forget about this great EP. Again, here is the link to the releases' website.

The first Extended Edition (XE) album released by blocSonic. Just Plain Ant created a great piece of music, primarily Downtempo, however I could sense a little bit of IDM here and there. Enjoy Songs About Something!
The album is released under the Creativ Commons BY-NC-ND 3.0 Licence.
...but why I choose ogg over mp3 now and then.
Actually I would like to do that more often. Why? Because ogg is a free standard, and on most Linuxes it's actually illegal playing mp3's, since some rich guys have patents on an algorithm. I don't like that, and I don't want to support that, so whenever I find stuff in ogg, I will post it in ogg, even if they also offer mp3. However, what I don't (and won't) do is to convert music to ogg, because the quality would suffer.
If you don't know how to play ogg files, let me tell you: in most cases there is a solution. You could use VLC on any wide-spread operating system, as well as Songbird, if you prefer a library and stuff around your music. If you use winamp and really want to stick to it, there is a plugin. There also is one for iTunes, however I cannot encourage using it, because Apple has really weird policies when it comes to the Apple Store. Oh, another Media Player worth mentioning is foobar2000, I think it leaves the smallest footprint of all media players on windows.
So, I hope one of the solutions will suit you, hang back later for more music!
Edit: Here is the link to the iTunes ogg Plugin.
Actually, I was just about to load a completely different piece of music from that netlabel, but the name made me check out this album, and suddenly I found myself making a torrent for this fine piece of music.
What can I say? You'll find breaks, melody and bass - and in general a really good EP. Check it out!
I've been listening to this EP quite often in the last days, and I really like it. It's a great compound of Funk, Pop, downtempo and probably some other stuff.
This again unfortunately is not creative commons, but it's much closer than Pixelord's Lucid Freaks. You can find the licence right here. So, again, you can download it free and noone will sue you, the same goes for uploading, so, do it! :)
Last night I decided to share some creative commons music I found on archive.org. It's all released on the 12rec label, and it's all creative Commons.
